Police have made a collar in the recent Avenue A butt-stabbing incident.
According to cops, Jesus Santiago, 48, of 278 E. Seventh St., between Avenues C and D, was arrested on Tues., May 2, shortly before 11 p.m. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
On Tues., April 25, around 11 a.m., Santiago allegedly approached a 57-year-old man and stabbed him in the rear end with an unknown object in front of 85 Avenue A, before fleeing south on Avenue A on foot. The victim was taken by E.M.S. to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Police did not immediately give a motive for the attack or more specifics on the weapon. A police spokesperson did not say if the victim is an East Village resident but that he does live in Manhattan.
