In yet another anti-Asian assault, a twentysomething woman seated by an outdoor dining structure on the Lower East Side was hit in the face, police said.
According to cops, on Wed., April 7, around 7:40 p.m., the 25-year-old victim was sitting, talking to her friend outside Stax ice cream shop, at 279 Grand St., between Forsyth and Eldridge Sts., when an unknown woman approached her.
The stranger made anti-Asian statements, then slapped the victim in the face before fleeing, police said.
The victim refused medical attention.
The suspect is described as around age 35, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, with a thick build and short black hair. She was last seen wearing a black tank top, black pants, white sneakers and carrying a gray coat.
Police provided surveillance video and a photo taken at the incident location.
