The Thanksgiving lunch at St. John’s In the Village Church, at 218 W. 11th St., is sold out, but both the Eucharist and a champagne reception are free and open to all.
The Thanksgiving Eucharist — to which those of all faiths and of none are welcome — is sung in the church at 10 a.m. The champagne reception follows in the Common Room at 11 a.m., before the Thanksgiving lunch (which, again, is sold out and has no seats available).
Bring your own wine, beer or soft drinks. These can be left in the Common Room (or courtyard for drinks that need to be chilled) during the Eucharist.

Also, on Sun., Dec. 1, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., St. John’s In the Village will host “Carols by Candlelight: An Advent Sequence for World AIDS Day.” Carols will be sung by the professional Choir of St John’s in the Village, in collaboration with the Choir of Dignity New York, an L.G.B.T.Q. group that meets regularly at St. John’s, and is in support of the upkeep of the New York City AIDS Memorial, at Greenwich Ave. and W. 12th St.
Music will be by Arvo Pärt, Jacob Handl, Boris Ord, Thomas Morley and many other composers.
The carols, to which those of all faiths or of none are welcome, will be followed by a seasonal hot mulled wine reception (with soft drink options) in the Revelation Gallery, the art gallery of St John’s.
The event is free, but registration is helpful for catering purposes.
The carols and reception are timed to dovetail into the “Out of the Darkness” event at the AIDS Memorial from 6 p.m. and afterward at St. John’s Lutheran Church, on Christopher St. The AIDS Memorial was dedicated three years ago on World AIDS Day.
