East Village artist Ian Dave Knife got a little wild with a tree stump at Avenue A and Sixth St., turning it into some wildlife — a green crocodile or alligator head.
Back in December, he carved an elegant face into a stump on E. 11th St., east of First Ave.
As of a few days ago there was a still a huge uprooted stump outside Two Fifth Ave., just north of Washington Square Park, the remnant of a big tree toppled by Tropical Storm Isaias. It would be a perfect canvas for Knife, but that one is likely to be removed, if it hasn’t been already.
