BY THE VILLAGE SUN | In the latest ugly anti-Semitic incident in New York City, police are looking for a cyclist who spat slurs at a man in Soho before throwing excrement at him.
The offender is being sought on a charge of aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
According to cops, on Tues., June 4, around 2 p.m., a 32-year-old man was in front of 46 Howard St., when he was approached by an unknown male on a bike. The stranger made anti-Semitic statements, then threw a bag full of dog feces at the other man, which landed inside his vehicle.
The hater fled on his bicycle. There were no injuries reported.
The incident is being investigated by the N.Y.P.D.’s Hate Crimes Task Force.
A police spokesperson said the two men did not know each other. He did not have information immediately available on how the offender identified his victim as Jewish or exactly what he yelled.
However, the New York Post reported that, according to police sources, the man shouted, “F— you, Jew!” The tabloid said the victim, a Hasidic man wearing a yarmulke, had just left from his work when the cyclist hurled the insult, plus the dog poop, which whizzed by his head before sailing into his car.
Police ask that anyone with information call the N.Y.P.D.’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted on the Crime Stoppers Web site at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or on X @NYPDTips. All tips are strictly confidential.
