BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police are looking for an armed robber who has knocked off at least three Manhattan stores so far this month, including one in the East Village.
According to police, on Thurs., April 4, around 4:20 p.m., the suspect hit Essex Card Shop, at 47 Avenue A. Brandishing a small black handgun, he demanded cash from the register and the store clerk complied. The thief fled on foot with around $200, heading southbound on Avenue A toward E. Third Street.
The day before, around 3:10 p.m., the same suspect allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven on 116th Street in East Harlem, again flashing the black gun, again making off with roughly $200.
In his third store heist in three days, according to police, the same armed robber on Fri., April 5, around 9 p.m., struck a Subway sandwich shop on St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem. He reached over the counter, grabbed $1,500 and fled on foot, heading south on the avenue.
The suspect is described as around age 40, with a medium build and last seen wearing a gray jacket, gray sweatpants, blue Jordan 11 sneakers, a blue New York Yankees hat and a blue face mask.

A Crime Stoppers tip leading to an arrest and indictment will receive a reward of up to $3,500. Reward amount is based on a review by the New York City Police Foundation Committee.
