BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Like Honest Abe himself, Lincoln Market is staying true to its word that it will open a new store in Greenwich Village.
The much-anticipated food market is still in the works for the former Rite Aid storefront at 13th Street and Sixth Avenue.
A local Food Emporium closed a few years ago and many residents have been eager for the new supermarket to come in.
Though originally planned to open last year, according to a source, Lincoln Market is now expected to open this summer.
“We just started working on it seriously,” the source told The Village Sun. “We just opened [a store in] Astoria, so we are concentrated now on Sixth Avenue.”
As for the Village store’s size, he said, “It’s big — it used to be a Rite Aid.”
In addition to Astoria, Lincoln Market also has a store in Harlem, plus several in Brooklyn, including in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Greenpoint.
As for what sets Lincoln Market apart from other grocery stores, the source said, “We are highly concentrated on the organic and natural products. That’s what we specialize in.”
They offer conventional products, too.
As for the cost, he said, “The price is very competitive. We constantly have regular, daily, weekly sales.”
The store uses a lot of “digital coupons,” he said.
When will Lincoln Market open on 6th Avenue and 13th Street in the West Village? Does anyone know? Do the Lincoln Market executives know? We live very close and are eager to shop there.
Many thanks.
