The Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds put on a dazzling aerial display for the New York area Tuesday in support of workers on the front lines battling coronavirus.
Flying in two delta formations, at one point they roared

However, just as happened a few weeks ago when the hospital ship U.S.N.S. Comfort sailed into port, the jets’ performance drew large crowds that totally flouted social distancing.
And, like so many New Yorkers, many in the crowds were not wearing face masks in public, despite Governor Cuomo’s April 15 executive order mandating it.
Nevertheless, everyone got a thrill watching the precision-flying jets, and taking photos and videos of them with their phones.
Well, make that lots of people — but not everyone. Lorcan Otway, the proprietor of Theatre 80 St. Mark’s and a Quaker, so a pacifist, took shots at the armed forces airshow.
Posting on Facebook, he wrote, “Just when we were beginning to get used to fresh air, we all needed a reminder that most of our tax money goes to the military-industrial complex rather than healthcare. Nice of them to say thanks by s—ting on our fresh air.”
