BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A man was stabbed out of the blue in front of the McDonald’s on Delancey Street on Monday night, police said.
According to cops, the 42-year-old victim was in front of the fast-food burger place at 114 Delancey St., at the corner of Essex Street, around 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 10, when a stranger came up to him. Unprovoked — and without uttering a single word — the man stabbed the victim once in the chest with “an unknown sharp object.”
The attacker fled into the Delancey/Essex Street subway station. The victim was removed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
The Village Sun asked a police spokesperson if there was any more information about the seemingly random stabbing and what might have prompted it — such as a remark, a look, a bump or the like.
“The victim approached the perpetrator,” the spokesperson said. “No statements were made.”
The suspect is described as roughly in his 50s, with a medium build and last seen wearing a black-and-white, pinstripe-style jogging suit with thick white stripes on the sides of the arms and legs, a gray bucket hat, black sneakers and carrying a small black bag slung across his chest.

Police provided a surveillance photo and video of the alleged suspect evading the fare in the subway station, which were obtained from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

This man is obviously mentally ill. New York is doing nothing to help these people and/or the homeless…many of whom are mentally ill. When will enough people die for NYC to step up?
Hear, hear! The politicians and Bragg and Adams are doing nothing. What happened to the $1.5 billion we gave Chirlane McCray for her bullshit Thrive NYC program? It’s done nothing! And cops don’t want to arrest the mentally ill because they know even if they go thru the hassle, the ADAs will just let them out again thanks to Alvin Bragg instructing them not to prosecute anyone. And there’s no long-term treatment, or prople won’t go unless they’re locked up first, so it’s a vicious cycle that benefits no one except Republicans. Lee Zeldin could take out Hochul because of crime.
There is a national epidemic of random stabbing happening now and it is all over the country. In recent days here in Vegas, 7 people were stabbed on the strip [2 died], 2 people were stabbed near the Univ [2 died] and a cop was shot and killed near the Univ. and people in Nevada keep posting the SOS about BS on social media and act like this killing is not even happening. All of this happened close to my apartment and I LIVE IN A WAR ZONE NOW and so do you.
Sounds like the canceled big fight scheduled for Nov 19th is being regularly upstaged on the strip. The combatants just don’t get paid.
