BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police are trying to collar a serial groper who they say has been targeting women all over, from Greenwich Village to the East Village to Chelsea.
Each time, cops say, the suspect uses the same M.O., approaching the victim from behind and grabbing her buttocks before fleeing. There were no reported injuries in any of the incidents, six of which have been reported.
The first unwelcome touching was on Wed., July 20, around 2:30 a.m. at the corner of Fifth Avenue and E. Eighth Street.
The same day, a half hour later, the same guy groped a woman at the corner of Greenwich and Sixth Aves., according to police.
The following day, Thurs., July 21, just before 1 p.m., the suspect grabbed a female again, this time in front of 229 E. 12th St., between Second and Third Avenues. Around five minutes later at the same location, he forcibly touched yet another victim.
Five minutes after that, the busy molester was down the block at the corner of Third Avenue and 12th Street, where he groped someone again.
An hour later that same day, the suspect had hightailed it over to Chelsea, where he pawed a woman at Seventh Avenue and 28th Street.
Police said the suspect was caught on surveillance camera on Wed., July 27, around 7:10 p.m., exiting the subway at the corner of 28th Street and Seventh Avenue — which also happens to be the location of the sixth incident listed above. At that time, the man was seen wearing a black T-shirt, shorts, a blue-and-orange Knicks jersey, white socks and black sneakers.
During the E. 12th Street gropes, the suspect wore a gray T-shirt, gray shorts and sneakers, according to a surveillance camera.
The individual is described as an adult male, weighing around 180 pounds and 6 feet tall, with a large build, brown eyes, bald and with a salt-and-pepper beard.
