Woman groped, robbed near Brooklyn Bridge

An out-of-state woman was sexually abused, robbed and shoved to the ground near the Brooklyn Bridge on Sun., July 11, police said.

Cops said the 58-year-old victim was walking outside the Al Smith Houses at 5 St. James Place around 3:15 a.m. on her way back to her hotel when she was approached by a stranger.

The man grabbed her buttocks, kissed her on the face and grabbed her wallet from her bag, police said. During a brief struggle, he shoved the victim to the ground, causing her to bruise her forearm.

The mugger fled with the woman’s purse southbound on Pearl St. Among the items inside the purse were her Texas State ID, around $100 and credit cards.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing by the Manhattan Special Victims Squad.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspect. They show him wearing a black backpack, black track pants with a white stripe down the legs and white sneakers.
