Where were you when the pandemic “officially started”?
Thurs., March 11, marked the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the shutdowns and of the World Health Organization declaring that the coronavirus outbreak could be “characterized as a pandemic.”
However, there is evidence that the virus was, in fact, present in America months earlier.
Scrolling through photos on her iPhone from that fateful day, Greenwich Village resident Sharon Woolums found a picture of a red-tailed hawk perching on a fence in Washington Square Park.
“I took this photo unaware of all that would soon transpire — but the hawk seems to know,” she reflected. “I think he has an ominous look about him. Animals are notorious for being keenly aware of impending calamity.”
