Vigil for slain journalists in Israel-Hamas conflict

BY THE VILLAGE SUN | A vigil was held Mon., Nov. 6, at Foley Square near City Hall in tribute to the fallen journalists in the Israel-Gaza War that broke out after Hamas’s brutal Oct. 7 terrorist attack.

At the time of the Lower Manhattan vigil, one month into the conflict, at least 36 journalists had been killed, including 31 Palestinians, four Israelis and one Lebanese. In addition, eight journalists had been injured and three were reported missing.

As of Nov. 13, the journalists death toll had reportedly increased to 42, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.

Some of the Israeli journalists who lost their lives were at the Supernova music festival that Hamas terrorists attacked on 10/7.

Most of the slain Palestinian journalists died in Israeli air strikes.

The International Journalists Association is calling on Israel to protect journalists.
