BY THE VILLAGE SUN | Police announced an arrest Tuesday evening in the fatal shooting of a Lower East Side woman this past November. A police spokesperson said an incident “domestic in nature” had led to the killing.
Cops said Dennis AppleWhite, 28, of the Bronx was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police identified the victim as Brittani Duffy, 27, a first-floor resident of 364 Madison St. in the Vladeck Houses. Responding police officers on Nov. 11 found Duffy inside a hallway of the Lower East Side public-housing building with a gunshot wound to her neck.
Duffy was pronounced dead at New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital shortly afterward. The Medical Examiner soon ruled the cause of death a homicide.
A police spokesperson said the shooter and the victim were either boyfriend and girlfriend or common-law spouses.
