East Village journo Bill Weinberg continues to cover the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests, including on Juneteenth, Fri., June 19.
He also documented some tony designer boutiques and bars along the Bowery, near where he lives, that festooned the plywood covering their storefronts with artwork with racial justice themes.
While the art is impressive, some are cynically wondering if the merchants’ sentiment is genuine or if it’s “looting insurance.” Maybe it’s a combination.
