Sweet support for East Village police officers

Roger that!

The E. Fifth St. Block Association delivered Insomnia cookies to the East Village’s Ninth Precinct to thank the officers for their service during these trying times.

The cookies being presented in the photo above were for police working Thursday’s afternoon shift. Block association members returned to the E. Fifth St. station house later that night with cookies for the midnight shift and again on Friday morning with a supply for police on the 8 a.m. shift.

Several block association members go out onto the street every evening at 7 p.m. to clap and make noise in support of the local cops, who, along with doctors, nurses and other essential workers, are on the front lines every day as the city battles the coronavirus pandemic.

Carol Puttre is an officer of the block association.

“We thought we’d like to do something more and the cookie idea came up,” she said. “We delivered them separately for each of the roll calls.”

Yes, I noticed the same thing. I live on 6th street and pass the precinct regularly. They congregate without masks.

Nice gesture, photo also shows why it is still spreading, no seriousness from police and in a precinct
